“There is a powerful force unleashed when young people resolve to make a change.”— Jane Goodall
While parents are not invited on overnight trips with students there are a number of other ways that parents can get involved here at JGEMS. All volunteers must be approved through the salem keizer disctirict.
Lunchtime supervision - this duty involves coming one or more days each week from 12:20pm to 1:20pm and providing safe boundaries for our students while they are allowed to play games or relax in the common areas at OSD.
Work parties/Zoo Visits/Museums - parents may ride the bus, or take their own car, duties include staying with a small group of students and keeping them on task.
Afterschool Clubs - Offerings are always different each year, so check in with what is currently being offered, duties can be as involved as you want to be, from teaching a class yourself, to just helping out.
Parent Club/Party planning - Each year JGEMS holds a Work-a-thon fundraiser and party, in coordination with our office manager, it takes a lot of hands to pull this off.
Any activity that involves interaction with students will require you to have a current background check on file with the office manager. You can fill one out at any time from the office manager. It takes about a week for it to clear.
